Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Tehama) issued the following statement today regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

“Through no fault of their own, these youth were brought to or sent by their parents to the United States. Many have made great contributions to our communities. They should not be punished for a choice they did not make.

“They trusted an unconstitutional federal program, gave their personal information as they were asked to do, and now, live in uncertainty and fear of being deported from the only country they know.

“It is crucially important that Congress takes immediate action to find a permanent solution.”
