State Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Gerber) issued the following statement today on the early release of nearly 10,000 prisoners ordered by the Three-Judge Panel:

“This Three-Judge Panel is telling the Governor to ignore state and local laws. The arrogance of these judges is outrageous.

“This Three-Judge Panel is overstepping their authority. They are putting themselves above the executive and legislative branches, and more importantly, the people of this state.

"There are other solutions. Compromising justice and public safety are not solutions.

“The safety of every Californian is put at risk by this irresponsible decision, and it must be challenged.”
