Assemblyman Jim Nielsen (R-Gerber) released the following statement this morning, following governor Brown's State of the State address which took place this morning at the State Capitol.
"Governor Brown touched on many issues California is dealing with currently," said Nielsen. "But what I haven't heard in his speech is about jobs; of a plan or focus that will enable small businesses in California to help get them back on track and expand, which will lead to putting people back to work. He praised the one percent of California entrepreneurs who create jobs yet his budget proposes to significantly raise tax burdens on both businesses and the middle class. I don't see the governor's plan, which is founded on vast multi-year tax increases, as a pathway to solving our budget problems. The Governor's ambitions are reflecting an unrealistic, unjustified high speed rail project and reaching a green energy quota in spite of the economic burden that will impose on already-existing businesses."
