Nielsen Announces Assembly Fellowship Program Applications

Assemblyman Nielsen (R-Gerber) is pleased to announce the availability of applications for the 2011-2012 Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship Program.  The 11-month fellowship program provides college graduates the opportunity to become full-time Assembly staff members working on fiscal and policy issues in an Assembly Member's Capitol or committee office. 

Assembly Fellows participate in a weekly academic seminar, earning graduate credits from California State University, Sacramento.  Fellows are paid a monthly stipend of $1,972, plus health, dental and vision benefits.  The Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento administers the program in conjunction with the California State Assembly. 

Applicants must have earned their undergraduate degree by September 2011.  No specific major is preferred and recent fellows have had a range of majors.  Individuals with advanced degrees and mid-career professionals are also encouraged to apply.  Applications may be requested by contacting Nielsen's District office at (530) 223-6300, Capitol office at (916) 319-2002, or online at the CSU fellowship web site.

Applications for the 2011-2012 Assembly Fellowship Program must be postmarked by Wednesday, February 23, 2011.  The 2011-2012 participants will be selected in May 2011 after a review of applications and in-person interviews of semifinalists.
