Former Chairman of California’s state parole board, Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Tehama) joined Senator Joel Anderson (R-Alpine), Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, and Kings County Sheriff David Robinson in calling on all Californians to resist Democrat leaders’ push to make California a sanctuary state.

“Too many lives and communities have been harmed by cities that have gone rogue to make themselves a safe haven for criminals,” said Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Tehama). “In San Francisco, Kate Steinle lost her young life to a convicted criminal who had been deported from the United States five times.”

“Sacramento County Sheriff Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff Deputy Michael Davis were killed in the line of duty by a man who was deported twice for committing several crimes, for membership in a drug cartel, and for entering the country illegally.”

Senate Bill 54, authored by Democrat Senate President pro Tempore, is a legislative proposal that would, among other things, prohibit state and local law enforcement agencies, school police and security departments from sharing information about criminals with federal officials.

Sacramento County Sheriff Jones said, “If SB 54 passes, we will allow dangerous career felons to be released onto our streets. We shouldn’t be endangering our communities and wasting resources by forcing law enforcement to repeatedly arrest foreign nationals who have been convicted of heinous crimes over and over.”
