SACRAMENTO (August 8, 2012) - Assemblyman Jim Nielsen (R-Gerber) participated today in a bi-partisan press conference where he announced a call for the Joint Legislative Audit Committee to approve a thorough and immediate audit of the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Together with Nielsen, Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, Assemblyman Jim Silva and Assemblyman Paul Fong participated in the press conference outside of the Capitol.
"There is no issue more important than getting our state budget under control," said Nielsen. "Conducting a through audit at the Parks department is a good start in getting our house in order. We recommend the Audit Committee approve this process, which should start immediately so that we can put an end to irresponsible budgeting at all levels of government and state agencies. Unfortunately the Parks incident is not an exception, but more of the rule."
The Joint Legislative Audit Committee will be hearing the audit request for the California Department of Parks and Recreation today, august 8th at 1:30 p.m., Capitol Room 444.
